We were looking for a compact SUV a month before the ski season starts in Tahoe. We picked up 3 of our favorite compact SUVs and started test drives. First two cars were Nissan Rogue and Honda CR-V. Nissan and Honda dealerships put the enormous pressure to us (especially Honda!) trying not to make us leave and lying about lots of stuff. After such an awful experience with two dealerships, I decided to give Internet sales a try and requested a RAV4 quote from Putnam Toyota. An hour later I get a quote from Mark Putnam with unbelievably good price. Couple of days later we come for a test drive and meet Mark who happened to be a best person we meet during our cay buying epopee. He is courteous, professional and honest. The test drive and service was excellent. No gripes, no pain and no pressure. My wife and I decided to sleep on our decision and came back the following morning to purchase RAV4 Sport V6, which completely outbid its competitors. The car buying experience was great! The found the financial guy (Mike Musto) to be terrific. He was warm, informative and made us feel comfortable. Yes, that's true :) I highly recommend Putnam Toyota if you're looking for a vehicle and give it the 5 stars it deserves.
At Putnum buy a car only from Lenny Ruttenberg. We almost walked out of buying a used Toyota because the salesman clearly had little knowledge on the car we wanted to buy. Luckily, Lenny stepped in and has been remarkable. He was very knowledgeable, had fully answered every question we had, did not push us to buy and promised he will stand behind the purchase if anything came up . Well, days after we bought the car "As Is" we found a problem - we returned to Lenny and he took care of it, while fixing of a few other small things I mentioned - free of charge. He stood behind his promise. We probably did not get the cheapest deal out there, but we got a 5 year old car that feels and drives like new, for a fair deal. We bought the car stress free and we know that Lenny will always be there to take care of his customers. No wonder he is a 17 year veteran in this business. We will return and so will our friends. Hope you do too. Lenny at Putnam Toyota - 650-373-4360.
We just bought a Rav4 from Mark. Mark showed us several cars with no hint of impatience. He listened to everything we wanted and made appropriate suggestions. The car we purchased was exactly what we wanted. Mike, the Finance Manager, was so easy to work with and inspired an immediate feeing of trust. We left the dealership feeling like we had known these people all of our lives. I can't imagine buying another car anywhere else.
based from my last visit, my perspective seems to be looking up. my car is my baby, i mean i've had him since he was only at 8 miles, so when you're baby gets taken care of, you have to give the people a brownie point. luis has gone out of his way to fix my wind turbulent moonroof and my car was gorgeously clean when i picked him up. i hope this continues...
I had an awesome car buying experience with Mark Putnam, the internet fleet sales manager. He was very knowledgeable, straight-forward, understanding, and sincere. And he treated me like a person (i'm a female). I asked for an out-of-door price over the internet and he gave me one! I did not realize how rare this was until i had asked other dealers for their out-of-the-door price and none gave it to me. Mark did not add any other fees or try to jack up the price once we were there. And, lastly he was not at all creepy or slimy. I hesitate to give them 5 stars because of the auto care prepaid maintenance package they were trying to sell me. The guy (not Mark) quoted me at $1995 minus $600 (a coupon) for a total of $1395. The $600 coupon was for the July 4th weekend. I told the guy that i would think about it and call him in about a week. The reason i wanted to wait on it was b/c i read one of the reviewers below state that they paid $2K for it even tho it was priced way below that. So when i got home, i checked the toyota website and the same package cost $1355 (for the premium "every 5,000 miles, 4 yr / 55,000 mi -- the same thing they were trying to sell me)!!! you can check the website here: toyotafinancial.com/cons…. BE WARY OF THIS AUTO CARE PACKAGE! if i had bought that package, i would be very unhappy! But since i didnt (thank god), it was a great experience. Thanks Mark!
Ask for Mark Putnam. In fact send an email to him and tell him what you want. There is no reason to deal with "Sales Guy". The easiest thing to do when buying/leasing a car is to go through the Internet Fleet Manager. ZERO hassle. We basically had an agreed price, well below MSRP, before I even went to the dealership. Mark was very easy to deal with and really worked the price for me. I ended up leasing a Camry, and there were NONE of the typical hidden fees and sales tricks to drive up the price. Car salesman have a well deserved SHADY stereotype, and Mark was nothing like that. He was very straight forward and upfront about everything. The Finance Manager Mike was freaking creepy and about two days away from getting a tracheotomy. Despite his heavy breathing and uncomfortable laugh it was a great experience... as far as buying a car goes.
