I was recently in the market for a car for my 80 year old mother. Her 1987 Buick Regal konked on her unexpectedly. I did most of the leg work, visiting various dealers to see what cars were out there that might work well for her. I took pictures and put them online for her to see and she picked the one she thought was the best price, mileage and color. She chose the 2007 Toyota Yaris at Putnam Toyota. My first contact at Toyota was with salesman Oscar- I told him very directly what we were looking for, he pointed me to the direction of 3 vehicles that would work and I never felt pressured or hounded as is the case with some places. I called him to let him know that my mother had thought the Yaris would be the best choice and that we'd be in on Sunday. He called me Sunday to reconfirm what time we'd be there and when we arrived, the car was washed and ready for inspection/test driving. He stood in the background while I took my time showing my mom all of the features- all of which are completely different from what her old tank had. It was a process. Oscar's associate Phil had to take over because Oscar had a phone call he had to take and Phil was also very easy to work with. Both of them really handled my mom with care and gave her the confidence to test drive the auto in a vacant parking lot. My mom is used to driving in her 12 block radius area of her home, no freeways and no driving at night. So the thought of driving anyplace else was frightening to her. She handled it like a champ. Mike in financing was also very nice, handled all the paperwork very efficiently and explained everything thoroughly. It was an extremely painless process at the dealership, they were very professional and handled my mom with respect. I would certainly consider going back to Putnam for future car purchases ~ although that is going to be several years for me...maybe hubby when he's ready for a new commute car!
