Subsequent to my original posting, I actually received a message from the owner of the dealership following up on my original post, asking me to let him know the price that I was quoted, and providing the number of the customer service manager to follow-up with. It certainly helped my perception of the dealership that management took note of a customer problem and followed up with what seemed like a genuine desire to make it better. As I had already purchased a different car elsewhere, I can't report to how the subsequent interaction fared. That said, when I reported that back to the owner, he did follow-up again with an apology for the way things turned out and an olive branch to build a relationship from there. This certainly continued to enhance my view of Putnam. If the original purchase went through seemlessly, Putnam would have gotten 5 stars. If the issue was quickly remedied and I still completerd the transaction, they would have gotten 4. As I can't really comment on anything going through to finality, I can only given them 3 stars right now, but I certainly would no longer warn people to avoid them (as I would have a few days ago). Seems like it may have been some miscommunication.
