I didn't expect to be writing on yelp about a car dealership. I've come to expect bad service from car dealerships I've dealt with in the past, and yelp reviews about every car dealership on here didn't help, but the service I've gotten from Putnam Toyota has been professional, helpful and beyond reproach. I've been researching different cars online for a few months, asking mechanics what cars they would choose and narrowed it down to Toyota and Volkswagon. Every mechanic I spoke with names Toyotas as the best car to own from a maintenance perspective, and that is important to me. I looked up Toyota Dealerships on yelp, and Putnam had the best rating so I went online and got the number of the General Sales Manager, Andrey Kamenetsky. We spoke a bit, and he said to just come in. When I came in, he was busy with another customer so asked Eddy Goldman to help me out. Eddy spent 2-3 hours with my wife and me, showing us the Tacoma (extended cab and double cab), Rav4 (Limited, Sport V4, Sport V6, and base), Scion (Xb, Xd, Tc), and Matrix. He took us out test driving the Scion Xd, Rav4 Limited V6, and the Rav4 base model). He was very knowledgeable about the cars, calling up by memory even the most obscure nuggets of knowledge about the cars and was never pushy or demanding, he was always professional and nice. It was a great experience. The next time I came back to the dealership, I just showed up so Eddy was helping another customer but took the time to introduce me to Nick. Nick has a very calm and reassuring demeanor. He spent another 2-3 hours with us, test driving the Rav4 again and discussing the details after my wife and I decided to purchase one. He very patiently explained options, looked up local inventory, and went over countless configuration options. I think we spent an hour with him just being concerned about the color. There were no Rav4s in the charcoal grey color that we wanted in the configuration that we wanted... only silver. Silver was okay for us, but we really wanted the charcoal color. We decided to go with the silver and sleep on it and come back the next day. But we left there saying we were going to buy the silver. Lo and behold, the next morning we find out that even after we agreed to buy the car, Andrey had taken the time to go out of his way and find a charcoal grey for us. I was floored, I mean we'd already said we were going to take it. They'd already spent an hour looking over inventory on the computer and not finding anything. Somehow he managed to look around and find it for us anyway. Thanks Andrey, you are awesome! That is incredible customer service. I am much happier with the charcoal grey color, and so is my wife. And that is just one story of the excellent customer service I've received from Putnam Toyota. Both Andrey and George Ferrier, a Finance Manager, even went out of their way to help us out after the sale was final, managing to get me something that I didn't expect them to be able to get me from Toyota. They both put in extra effort, even after the sale, and for that I am very grateful. As to the car itself, well, that is still new as of this writing, but I love it. I have a charcoal grey sports model Rav4 with a V6 engine. Man can that thing accelerate. And it has decent gas mileage, excellent for an SUV. Most people I talk to think the Rav4 is a tiny little vehicle, but the body style changed 3 or so years ago and it is now a compact SUV. The interior is very roomy, much more so then the Volkswagon Tiguan or Honda CRV. In short, if you want to buy a Toyota, and you should, then go to Putnam.
