Putnam Toyota Review By Candice H.

Candice  H.

We've been here several times, for different cars, new, used and new again. We ended up buying a new 2018 car. Our people: Eddy (who was nice enough to meet us on behalf of his colleague on Sunday) & Jeff (who doesn't typically work Sundays, but has a legit reason for that)....bottom line - they are a great pair. Purchase: 2018 car (the 2019 cars have already been released). So we opted to get a reduction for the same car, an earlier year. Facility: Unfortunately never discovered this until a whole year later, but when you walk in, head to the espresso machine. No joke, it's a big machine that offers coffee, capps, espresso and more and it's really good coffee. How did no one offer this until a year later?? Seating is very comfortable and a great lounge w/ oversized chairs. If you get there early enough, there are huge pastries available. Later in the day, oranges and apples. Service Dpt: We've always come here to get our car serviced or if my old car has recalls. They are impeccable. I wish I could remember his name - i'll edit this if I remember. But Hank, who we've also dealt with, is also great. Parking: Ample parking all around, either in the service/sales lot or on the street outside. Sales: Eddy and Jeff - yes superb people. Not pushy (which I CANNOT STAND, you know that super old school way of selling), but I think they know how to cater to different crowds and folks too. The Test Drives: We first tested a Tacoma, and while it was great, wasn't the perfect car for us. We came back a week later to test an SUV. Eddy was patient and told us the perks of the car. Having bought a Toyota car a year earlier, I was waiting for the sales people to be pushy...very pushy.....but....not the case at all here at Putnam. The pushier you are with me, the faster I flee, the grumpier I get. You try to sell me a truck with 2 wheel drive or an automatic instead of a stick, I will also flee. Don't sell me something I don't want. It's like men....why settle for less? (LOLling inside). Also, to find someone knowledgeable about trucks for once? He's your guy. It amazes me how many sales people think they know about trucks, but don't even know if the car is in 2 or 4 wheel drive?! You truck goers, you know what I'm talking about... The Sale: No, we didn't get a dime off of our car, but it was a deal since it was a year older. Checked references, filled out paperwork...the usual. Finance: They also get it. Don't want it? Not their style to push. It is their job to at least mention it, so let them say their speech and then say, yes or no thanks. The Delivery: Eddy showed us all of the awesome tech packages to our car, and paired both of our phones. Told us some things that we had no idea that even existed on our Toyota sedan...Just crucial info that every salesperson should probably deliver. Full tank of gas of course and detailed. The Drive Off: Eddy took a pic of us in front of the car - my eyes were half closed...(sigh)... I would say, since the location is Burlingame, prices for new cars in the current year are slightly higher than other locations. Service is there, and they obviously want you back, so give them a try. Bonus: We noticed a scratch on the car when we left. Texted Eddy, he said, "no problem, I'm sure we can figure it out." We drove the car back the next day, and it wasn't a scratch. Leftover glue from the plastic wrap on new cars. But he seemed optimistic to fix the minor scratch nevertheless. Thanks Putnam! See you soon at the service department for an oil change!
